How does compression work?

Lossless mode optimizes the existing PDF structure. High, Medium, and Low render each page to a progressively smaller JPEG-backed PDF for much stronger compression of scans and image-heavy documents.

What changes in High, Medium, and Low?

These modes flatten each page into an image, so selectable text, links, form fields, annotations, layers, and vector graphics are no longer editable. Choose Lossless when those features must remain intact.

Will every PDF become smaller?

No. A document that is already optimized may stay the same size. PDFisPDF keeps the smaller result and never substitutes a larger file for the original.
